Ranting about public things

I can't help myself. Maybe a French thing, one of those few traits I haven't entirely lost in my years of displacement. I rant. Too often. About things that don't work. Things that should work.
But it is rather awkward when your complaint about bad public transport, services or spaces get emphatically echoed by people who actually want to get rid of public things, not improve them.
